I Would Change The Helmets, Another L.A Nights Uniform Post

The original instagram pic posted by UCLA running back Jordon James, which includes the cleats and gloves can be found here . I love the design on the shoes, love the gloves, love the navy blue jerseys, and love the powder blue numbers accentuated by the white outline. The helmet however? Eh….. Not so much.

Personally I feel like the gold color on the face mask clashes too much with other parts of the uniform hence I made the color navy just like the helmet. And while I understand that white is not our traditional color, a white UCLA script instead of the gold on the helmet would have made the uniform well… more uniform. What do you guys think? However, I love the fact that UCLA/Adidas are experimenting with new gear and the outcome so far does not look anything like Maryland’s half a bloody tampon and half a stripper leggings football attire. Go bruins.

*update: I take it back, after looking at the below video, the gold trims seems to work out pretty well under a darkly lit setting. Arizona will be a night game so the uniforms will actually look damn spectacular in my opinion*

UCLA “LA Nights” Navy Football Uniform (Updated Version)

Special thanks goes out to Derf18 and Bruinword for filling me in on some details that were missing on my previous mock up of the rumored “LA Nights” all navy UCLA football uniforms. This 2.0 revised version of the mock up has a blue stripe going down the middle of the helmet like Derf18 pointed out along with gold UCLA logo on the side of the helmets as Bruinword suggested. By the way, all of these details suggested by the readers of this blog are actually from David Woods who works for BruinReportOnline.

UCLA Alternative Navy Uniform vs Stanford Mock Up

The rumor is that UCLA will introduce an all navy alternative football uniform for our last game of the 2012 season versus the Stanford “White Tight Ends R Us” Cardinals (Tracy Pierson from BRO just confirmed the rumor). Going by the design of the all navy jerseys that are being sold in the official UCLA store currently, I would say that the above mockup is pretty damn closes to what the bruins will be wearing when the take the field on the date of the November 24th. New UCLA 2012 Football Uniforms???

One of our players is injured? Whatever. We signed a new stud recruit? Who cares. We might have a different shade of blue on our football uniforms? WHAT! WHERE? HOW? WHEN?

Let’s start with the possible away/alternative uniforms on the left with the similar design as our last years disastrous all white unis, with the exception of darker navy pants and numbers. Aesthetic wise it’s a pretty damn good looking uniform, however you can’t help but notice that it looks exactly like the Arizona wildcats uniform minus the red stripes. What? Shhhhhh…….. Ixnay on the Bearsay. Berserk-lies have great paranoia about us taking their stuff and making it our own, we do not need to give them more ammunition.

As for the home unis on the right, I kind of like the darker shade of the powder blue and matted gold colors utilized, and while traditionalist are still going ape shit over bringing back the old shoulder stripes, I prefer the shortened modern version seen in the photo over the traditional ones that stretches all the way over the shoulder pads. However, I will say this again that those damn techfit technology need to be gone and it needs to be gone quick. I have not seen anyone with the shape of number 64 wearing that tight of a clothing on their body since my last trip to Tijuana red light district. And don’t get me started on number 26′s pants.

New Nebraska Uniforms… Unlike You I Kind Of Like It.

The above photo is not the centerfold in the new issue of Sports Riders magazine, instead it’s the upcoming alternative football uniform for Nebraska Corn-huskers. The consensus opinion for the alternative design seems to be that the uniform is breaking too far away from the tradition and more importantly, that it just look hideous. Well I never been a fan of mr.consensus (I hear he steals others peoples lunches at work and downloads nothing but Japanese tentacle anime during work hours…. Oh wait, I am looking at my google calendar).

I unlike others who fall within the tradition loving mainstream, actually find the above uniform very aesthetically pleasing. I love the black and red combination as well as the thin stripes around the uniform that accentuate the design. The cuckold inducing John Holmes codpiece is another matter but nothing in the world is prefect right? Is it the most beautiful design ever drawn up by some gay guy at Adidas? Probably not, but remember that this is the first major initiative by Adidas to get alternative uniforms involved for all it’s sponsored colleges, and also remember that first Nike designed alternative uniforms for Oregon Ducks in 2000 actually looked like this.

It’s a step toward the right direction by Adidas in appealing to the recruits of this generation and beyond, and as time progresses on the designs will get better to appease to both the traditionalists and the progressives of the schools. The techfit technology however… That shit needs to go son.

Alternative Uniforms for UCLA?

I received the above picture in my mailbox from a reader with the original link to where he found the picture (credits to SuperBruinMan on Bruingold). Picture seems to have been taken from the outside looking in on a presentation about what the alternative uniforms for UCLA will look like for the upcoming 2012 football season, with two all black uniforms (one with blue stripes and one with gold stripes). Suffice to say, I can’t tell the details of what the concepts for the alternative unis looks like due to the quality of the images of the picture but am I wrong in thinking that they look exactly like my black and gold uniform concepts? Am I wrong on this?

Did one of my readers print out my sketches and present them to the UCLA board? Not that I mind, I actually thank you for doing the dirty work, either way, go bruins!

New Adidas Uniform Concept via Notre Dame Poster Rape

Since my previous Nike Pro Combat uniforms seem to be too faaaaaaaa~~~~bulousssss~~~~~ for some people, here is an Adidas version of what one of the new alternative UCLA football uniforms should look like via manipulating the retro Adidas Notre Dame jersey. All I did was replace the color green with darker shade of neon blue that I would love for UCLA to utilize and then photoshopped the UCLA helmet onto the picture to complete it. Honestly, this version would probably be closer to the new UCLA alternative uniforms than my other concepts since the above design was done by Adidas and they tend to go more retro than modern in their concepts.

To finalize this post, I present you with a picture of Laron Landry thinking a bib is a fashion apparel.

The Rumored All Black UCLA Uniforms Via Sundevil Poster Rape

The rumor is that UCLA will have 5 different combinations of alternative football uniforms for the upcoming year including an all black version and an all blue version. Perfect. *Points to sky* You been listening to me god, you really have been listening… As for what I think the alt unis should look like, while I know Adidas goes more retro than modern in their alternative uniforms, I hope and pray to the man above that the all black unis for UCLA looks somewhat similar to the all black pro combat uniforms that Arizona State wears. Cause I tell you what, if it does look similar then the outfit for my next trip to the whore house is pretty much decided. Hello Mustang Ranch, I am here to request the services of the lady with the roundest backside, and let me warn you right up front, your vagina is getting Burfict’ed.

Ever Wonder Why UCLA Stays With Adidas?

In Portland, Rachel Bachman cited UCLA AD Dan Guerrero as indicating that the impending seven-year extension with adidas “will approach Michigan’s unparalleled deal, worth $7.5 million annually.” Open records show that UCLA’s current deal is worth $4.6M per year (Portland OREGONIAN, 6/5).

Navy White Mock Nike Pro Combat UCLA Football Uniform

Lot of people have been asking for a blue schemed version of the mock “all black” uniforms I did about month ago. Well since you asked for it so now you got it. Initially, I tried combine a bit of gold into the sketch but honestly it did not work with the urban modern color scheme. The best combo for a blue version of the mock uniform seems to be slightly dark blue with white stripe/logo combination which is what you see above. Kind of reminds you of the Seahawks huh? You are welcome Coach Jim Mora.
