Petros Going OFF On Lane Kiffin “No One Feels Sorry For USC!”

Audio/Video of Petros going off on a massive 13 minute tirade at Lane Kiffin during last night's Petros & Money show.   It's a must listen for anyone who is baffled by this particular Lane Kiffin response to why there are 6 Pac 12 teams in the top 25 rankings.  I quote. “It's the result of us not nailing recruiting over the last five years," Kiffin said Sunday when asked Read more

Westbrook, Long Tradition Of UCLA Hipsters

I see everyone is going ape shit over the outfit that Russell Westbrook wore to the post game press conference after game one of the western conference semi finals.   For those of you who missed it, here is what Russell decided to put on his body before speaking to the media.   Now do I think that it's a horrible outfit?  Kind of, mainly because of the gold that is Read more

Mancrush of spring practices: Steven Manfro

I ran into some guy named Barry Sanders last night at a party and I asked him, "hey, aren't you the black Steven Manfro?" Here are  couple of my Steven Manfro observations from watching the spring practices so far. During scrimmage, a swing pass was thrown to Steven Manfro from Richard Brehaut and to my amazement, after catching the pass Steven did not accelerate but rather just nonchalantly walked down the Read more

UCLA Football: Attack With Passion Poster

I get about 3 emails a week from this little blog of mine and about 3 of those tend to be from other bruin fans who love the fact that I am updating the UCLA image up to the modern times (aka. nike) with a little help my friend photoshop.   So here is one more poster for UCLA football and personally my favorite so far.   Attack with passion, go Read more

Lou Spanos’ Potential 3-4 Defense vs Joe Tresey’s 4-wtf-0-2 Defense

Above you see the potential 3-4 defense that UCLA might run in the upcoming football season, the whole thing is predicated on having a large nose tackle and tweener defensive tackles that will clog up the  gaps in the line, while having speedy line backers to increase the coverage of the field in both pass and run situations.   Or at least, that is what is stated on Wikipedia.  Now Read more

Meet My New Favorite UCLA Commit Carl Hulick

carl hulick new UCLA Bruin

Here I am waiting for the arrival of Adrian Klemm to pay off for our football recruiting only to find out that my dream of a player just committed to the UCLA Bruins in the form of Carl Hulick, a nose guard from Anaheim CA.  Carl Hulick might not be a household name in the recruiting world but once you get a look at that ‘every bouncer you ever seen at a club’ face, you begin to see what type of attitude change head coach Jim L Mora is trying to bring to the UCLA football program.   We will no longer be the late night cineamax of college football world, meaning all the eye candies that you wanna see are out there but you see nothing but soft action on the field.   No!  No more.  Bruin football will now be hardcore, so hardcore that it will make a German porn director go into a spasm from what type of overwhelming hardcore action he is seeing out there.  Yeah that hardcore my friends.

New decade of bruin football is here, and with the hiring of Sal “My Left Foot” Alosi as the strength and conditioning coach strictly for the football team, it signals to the rest of the PAC 12 that we are the UCLA Bruins and now…. now we just don’t give a fuck.  No longer are we the school of punting is winning, we are now a school of winning is winning and we will do whatever it takes to get it done.  Welcome Carl Hulick, we need more players like you on our football team to change the culture that existed with the previous regime.

What RB Recruting Is To USC, CB Is To UCLA

welcome marus rios and isamael adams

While I was away celebrating the holidays with my family, UCLA football received two big time commitments at the secondary position in the name of Marcus Rios and Isamael Adams.  Both commits are 4 star corner backs in rivals recruiting system as well as the scout.com rankings.  Oy vey, too many stud corner backs is a great problem to have right Shlomo?  That makes what?  19 cornerbacks we are taking in this class?  Having great athletes like Ismael and Marcus is a great problem to have.  Am I right or am I right?  Like, can you have too many gefilte fish?  I don’t think so my friend.

UCLA beat writer Jon Gold has a great interview with Ismael Adams up at his dailynews blog (you can read the full interview here).  That Jon Gold, what a sweet young boy.  Here is an excerpt that I found interesting.

JG: You’re committing at a time when UCLA only has about half of its staff complete; what about the current coaches made you comfortable enough to commit without a defensive coordinator?
Adams: “I just saw the opportunity under Coach Martin, who was my second offer, and to play under a head coach who has coached defensive backs. Those two right there – a guy who had great success with players and putting them in the draft, and with Coach Mora having 25 years of experience not only as a head coach but with defensive backs – that was enough. One who knows the college realm very well. The other with the NFL technique and knowing what it takes to get there. Everything falls in its place.”

These recruits nowadays know all about not only the head coach of the school they are going to attend but also about the position coach in which they will play for and what kind of resume they carry.  I know people are bit antsy on the fact that Mora has not named a defensive coordinator position yet but we can all assume that whoever Mora chooses to fill that position, he will carry a big NFL experience with him as well as a long resume to have these kids excited about helping to turn the UCLA football program around.   So far I am giving Mora a A- for all the hires he made and recruiting efforts he has put forth.  I still hate Dan Guerrero with a passion though.

Welcome These New UCLA Football Commits

kenny orjioke commits to ucla bruins

The hiring of Adrian Klemm is already paying off dividends for the UCLA bruins with the commitment of projected outside linebacker Kenny Orjioke from Marietta, Georgia.  Even though Kenny is playing for Lassiter high school, he is originally from the So Cal area and is only a 16 year old senior who skipped a grade due to traveling abroad.  A 16 year old kid with a 6’4 230lb frame is hard to find and while he might be a bit of a project at the secondary or linebacker position, he appears to be another tweener in the form of Akeem Ayers to my untrained eyes.   Snooping around in message boards of schools where Kenny had his other offers from, they all seem to feel as though he will get additional offers from other big time programs due to his potential and his size.  Great get for Adrian Kelmm and the UCLA staff, welcome to the bruin family Kenny, and don’t ever read BRO or bruinsnation if you want to keep your sanity.  Kenny’s scout profile can be found here, and his rivals profile can be found here.

Additionally, former Washington Huskies commit Taylor Lagace flipped his college choice to UCLA after Jim Mora hired Demetrice Martin as the new secondary coach.   Taylor plays for Arcadia high so playing at the Rosebowl in Pasadena during his college years should be prefect scenario for his family.  Additionally, if Taylor’s football career does not workout for him it seems as though he will be a prefect stunt double for Adam Brody going by his profile picture on scout.   Who is Adam Brody you say?  He was that cute guy from the TV show O.C remember?  Oh you didn’t watch that show?  Yeah me neither man, I just like remember his name and shit cause you know my sister use to watch that thing in the background when I was like pumping iron and breaking bricks with my fists and shit.  Yeah man forget that whole Adam Brody reference, naw wha I mean?   Whateverz, ya know?  Shiiiiittttt…   I gotta bounce to go train some jiujitsu  right now naw wha I mean?  Triangle choke some fools, ya know..  *looks up triangle choke on google*  Okay forget that whole triangle choke thing and let’s just go back to the Adam Brody reference.  Taylor’s scout profile can be found here, and his rivals profile can be found here.

Justin Combs Commits To UCLA

justin combs commits to ucla

Justin Combs (again, not an ebay store selling hair products but a cornerback from New Rochelle NY) has committed to UCLA.  You can read more about the commitement here.  Now I am not what you would call an expert when it comes to recruiting high school football prospects but from looking at the above pic, Justin seems to have a good set of uhhhh…… What was I saying?  Man, what’s going on toward the bottom there, come on girl let me see that junk in the trunk, that’s where it is at you know what I mean?  Wait.  Am I typing this out loud?

Congrats Justin, and welcome to the Bruin family.  Please bring whoever that is next to you with you during an official visit because I wouldn’t mind having some of that fine ass curvy….  Wait, am I typing out loud again?

every recruit to somewhere else.

Cyrus Hobbi to SUC, Stefan McClure (maybe the coolest non James Bond name ever) to Kal, Jalen Grimble is rumored to be silent to Miami, and Tony Stewart likely headed to FSU. Therefore, every high star recurits left on the board is heading somewhere else. Sweet. Hey check out this gif, does it not make you happy? See? It’s boobies! Boobies! Hahaha. Lets focus on boobies.

What a day folks

Wayne Lyons picked Stanford, Donovan Smith to Penn State, and Tobias Singleton to Mississippi.   Wow what contrast from last year when we were cleaning up toward the end of the football recruiting cycle.  We the bruins went 0-3 today in the army game announcements and while  I am feeling kind of somber at the moment, I can cheer myself up by creating an animated gif celebrating the most important recruit  in the last 10 years of UCLA football.    Go Bruins.

torian white visits SC last

Torian white has had his recruitment blow up in the past several months, and with a big SC offer now in his pocket, it seems as though his commitment to the bruins is hanging on by a thread.   According to BRO, most observers who follow recruiting like a hawk seems to feel as though Torian will flip to SC eventually, mainly due to the fact that SC is really thin at OL positions and are no longer able to recruit nationally like they use to due to the sanctions.   Now we hear that Torian visit list has SC at the very last, just a week before signing period.  All signs point to Torian becoming a Trojan.
