Fall Practice Starts… How About Scary As Shit UCLA Logo?

Refreshed from my vacation that took me away from this UCLA blog, I am back with a vengeance to get this football season started with a proper bang! Roar mother fucker roar! While I was a way it seems as though the school on the shadier part of town decided to Miami Heat their way into a BCS championship. No fear. No preseason number 1 has finished the college football season as the national championship since 2004, when southern… Okay who it was done by is not important. Let’s focus on our bruins, everyone go to CSSB, smoke some fine inland empire meth, and then watch the UCLA bruins go through a gruling fall practive that will convert our boys into men and a better football team. GO BRUINS!

Matted Black Helmet For UCLA via Oregon Poster Rape

With the likelihood that UCLA will have an alternative black uniforms this year, I would really love it if we had a matted version with the above sketch as our helmet to go along with it. It’s not exactly groundbreaking style like Missouri’s all black helmet with a thundercat on the side of their domes but we have to take one little baby step at a time here in westwood.

Seriously, the above is about as tame as it’s gonna get for an all black uniform, but it will still get the old geezers who are not up to date with the current times screaming about our tradition while not fully comprehending the concept that “alternative” does not mean “replace”.

“Where is the powder blue?”
“Where is the gold?”
“I can’t recognize it! How do I know who to root for?”
‘The black is too intimidating and the fear makes me shit all over my depends.”

And so on….

UCLA Football Spring Schedule Poster

Here is a quick photochopped football schedule for the upcoming 2012 spring games. I will fill in the “TBD” in the above schedule with actual locations when the information becomes available to the public, or the more likely scenario is that I will just plain forget about it and the poster will remain as it is. Also, I got a suggestion on my facebook page asking if I could come up with some alternative designs for the basketball uniforms so I might work on that later when I have more free time. If anyone has better info than the one listed on the above spring schedule please let me know via contact option so I can update to make it more current. Go Bruins.

Aggressive Joe Bruin

When I asked my friend to redesign this little old blog to make it a bit cleaner to read, I also had an additional favor of having him design me a logo with the UCLA bruin tradition incorporated but with more of an aggressive tone. The above is what he came up with and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out, although after playing around with the placement of it on my blog, I don’t think it fits in with vibe of the layout that we are currently using. Therefore, as long as it’s not for commercial use (meaning don’t put it on a T shirt and try to sell it) any bruin fan is more than welcome to use the logo above if you don’t mind giving this little site a little shout out in return.

He and I are also working on some additional logos for UCLA that moves away from the happy Joe Bruin to more of a pissed off one. I think the Joe is perfect for selling the educational settings that UCLA provides but I would love for UCLA to adapt a more aggressive alternative mascot/logo for the two big revenue generating sports of football and basketball. Insert the mandatory lame come on lines to big booty girls joke here to complete the post.

Navy White Mock Nike Pro Combat UCLA Football Uniform

Lot of people have been asking for a blue schemed version of the mock “all black” uniforms I did about month ago. Well since you asked for it so now you got it. Initially, I tried combine a bit of gold into the sketch but honestly it did not work with the urban modern color scheme. The best combo for a blue version of the mock uniform seems to be slightly dark blue with white stripe/logo combination which is what you see above. Kind of reminds you of the Seahawks huh? You are welcome Coach Jim Mora.

Nike Pro Combat UCLA Football Uniforms.. Not Really.

Okay people show me the best way to design a UCLA football uniform on a budget… with Photoshop. Get to work… Creating a jersey by itself is a lot of work so see if we can sss~tich a better top. Oooh, see what Nike did? By creating a design that will serve as a football uniform and also a Ed Hardy T shirt at the same time, nike saved us lot of manufacturing time that would have been used to print up dragons. Make it! Major WOW factor.

Norm, I mean Andrew, there is no way I am gonna actually believe that you will forgo the NFL draft to be back at Stanford next year to get your “architectural design” degree. Okay for Ballroom Matty, he had a shoulder surgery and never ending hot SC coed fellatio line to comeback for but you? I seen the coed at Stanford Andrew, oh my goodness man, oh my goodness.
