Jim Mora Jr is off to a fast start as the new UCLA football coach hiring Adrian Klemm as his run coordinator/offensive line coach and Steve Broussard as his new running back coach. Both of these new coaches were perceived to be the top recruiter with their former respective teams, with Adrian Klemm being named the top non-BCS AQ Recruiter in the nation by Rivals.com, and one of the top 25 recruiters in the country overall. While Steve Broussard was recently named the recruiting coordinator for ASU due to his heavy ties to the Southern California area and his ability to pouch multiple high level socal prospects off to become a Sun-devil.
No matter what your initial feelings were as to the hiring of Jim Mora Jr as the new UCLA football coach, you gotta admit that he is hiring the right people around him to take care of his main perceived weakness, which is recruiting. I said it when he was hired and I will say it again now, I like Jim Mora Jr as the new head man for UCLA football. The hire was outside the UCLA thinking box and brings a breath of fresh air to decade long stagnant football program. And in return, Mora is keeping with the trend of thinking out of the box going by hiring up and comers as his assistants and not retread familiar big names. It’s no longer punting is winning at UCLA football, now it’s all about recruiting is winning, and boy do I like it (my url doesn’t though).
